Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Alabama
Education Association (AEA) Human and Civil Rights (HCR) Division will host a virtual Minority Leadership Training (MLT) Conference on November 5-7, 2021. The MLT Conference is open to ALL AEA members.
Friday, November 5, 2021
The MLT Conference will begin with Friday sessions specifically for Aspiring Educators. The
guest speaker will be Dr. Shaun Woodly. Dr. Woodly
is a decorated K-12 teacher, university professor
and author whose deep passion and research have
allowed him great success as an educator and
entrepreneur. He is the architect behind the educator movement "Teach Hustle Inspire," and has written the best-selling book MC Means Move the Class: How
to Spark Engagement and Motivation in Urban and
Culturally Diverse Classrooms . Dr. Woodly has received multiple honors, including being named teacher of the year, receiving a district inspiration award, and several commendations of distinction for outstanding teaching and leadership.

Sunday, November 7, 2021
By popular demand, Self-Care Sunday is back!
This will be a day for members to focus on themselves. Sessions and resources will be shared that will remind
members of the importance of mental health and
self-care.
Education Support Professionals (ESPs)
Sessions will also be provided to assist education
support professionals. Helpful information on working safely in school settings during this
unprecedented time in education will be shared.
Conference Features!
Other guest speakers include, Dr. Andrew Maxey,
Director of Strategic Initiatives at Tuscaloosa City
Schools and Kayla Hardin, Bravo's Top Chef Amateur winner and AEA member.
CEUs and PLUs
Sessions to begin ACLD-approved PLU studies will
be offered. Online assignments are required after
the conference. PowerSchool Section Numbers for PLU courses will be provided in the provided PLU study information. Sessions will also be provided for teacher leaders and specialty area educators to earn professional development clock hours for Continuing Education Units (CEUs). For Continuing Education Units (CEUs), register on PowerSchool with Section # 416677.
Registration and Fees
The MLT Conference is FREE for AEA members.
The non-member fee for CEUs is $300.00. The
